Morris Edward Pyle

A Memorial service will be held at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel at Delhomme's Funeral Home on Thursday March 22, 2007 for Morris Edward Pyle, Sr. who peacefully died at L'Allison Personal Care Home in Baton Rouge, LA. On March 19, 2007. Interment will take place in St. Bernard Cemetery in Breaux Bridge, La Rev. Msgr. Charles Mallet will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Morris was born in Wilson OK, January 10, 1926 to William Buford and Blanche Palmer Pyle, raised in Richmond Texas, attended military school followed by geological/geophysical studies at Texas A&M. He originally got his initiation into the oil industry working with his uncle, Howard B. Pyle, who was an independent oil & gas operator in Texas. Afterwards he became party/crew chief and ran geophysical crews through the deep woods of Mississippi, the marshes of Louisiana, and all the way down to the jungles of South America. Morris finally settled in Lafayette, Louisiana and worked as an independent geophysicist until his retirement in 2003. His main loves in life were his family, fishing, woodworking, and spending time in the great outdoors. He could often be seen throwing a rod, awaiting a speckled trout to bite, all the while wearing his famous Frank Buck hat. Morris was a true gentleman and a great example of what it means to be a remarkable human being. He had an unbelievable capacity for love and compassion along with endless generosity for others. His gentle smile and quick wittedness will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Morris is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Claire Begnaud Pyle, one daughter Marian Lynn Pyle and her husband Dan Collins; four sons, William Bryan (Bill) Pyle and his wife Anne Dupuis Pyle, Morris Edward (Eddie) Pyle, Jr. and his wife Sue Himel Pyle, James Anthony (Tony) Pyle and Kevin Francis Pyle. He has 7 grandchildren, Megan Collins, Neal Collins, Zachary Pyle, Sarah Pyle, Kody Pyle, Elliot Pyle and Lucy Pyle. He has a nephew, Lynn Costlow, of California and two nieces, Ellen Childress and Reba Galbraith of Texas; and his favorite sister in law Marilyn Begnaud Lapeyrouse of St. Martinville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marian June Pyle Costlow. The family would like to thank L'Allison Personal Care Home of Baton Rouge for the gentle loving care they gave Morris. Visiting hours will be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
