Nancy Love Frazer

Born on February 1, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama, Nancy was a devoted, loving daughter, the only child born to Barbara Chopin Frazer and William Judson Frazer. Her childhood and adolescent years were spent in Birmingham. Years after her father's death, Nancy and her mother moved to Lafayette to be near her mother's family. Her continued devotion to and care of her mother was endless. Although Nancy experienced chronic medical challenges, she transitioned to her eternal life unexpectedly at 12:45 am on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Upon graduation from high school, Nancy accepted positions at various retail stores in the Birmingham area. After her move to Lafayette, Nancy was selected for a position at University Medical Center as an Administrative Coordinator in the Internal Medicine Clinic. Nancy availed herself of agency access to computer software tutorials which afforded her the opportunity to gain a level of expertise which prepared her to promote to a position in the Nursing Informatics Department. Part of her role in Nursing Informatics was focused on training medical and hospital staff in various electronic information technologies. Known as a gentle, quiet woman, Nancy took great pride in her work, going above and beyond to assist anyone in need. She was regarded as a valuable asset and expert in this role. As Nancy journeyed back to her Catholic faith, she began making and giving, never selling, rosaries for family and friends, and attending Mass with her Aunt Cam. Nancy is survived by her loving mother, Barbara Chopin Frazer of Lafayette; one half-sister, Elizabeth 'Betsy' Keiser of Denver, Colorado; her devoted aunt, Camella Chopin; first cousins Carey Chopin, his wife Cindy, and their children, Caleb, Benjamin, Mary Grace, Elijah and Matthew Joseph; and, Cassie Chopin Dupuy, her husband Eric, and their children Emma Claire, Madeline, and Noah; as well as numerous additional relatives. She was predeceased by her father, William J. Frazer of Birmingham, Alabama; her maternal grandparents, Claude and Blanche B. Chopin of Lafayette; her paternal grandparents, A. J. and Syble Frazer of Aurora, Indiana; and her uncle Claude A. Chopin of Lafayette. In honor of Nancy's wishes, her body has been accepted for education and research by the LSU Health Science Center Anatomical Board. It was her desire that others benefit in some way from studying the health challenges she experienced. The wake will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home (1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette) on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 12 noon until the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. At 1:00 pm a Rosary will be led by Nancy's cousin, Mary Odille Broussard, and Wanda Cormier. Father Richard Kalinowski, Chaplain at University Medical Center, will preside over the Memorial Service. Readers for the scripture readings will be Cassie Dupuy and Mary Odille Broussard. An eulogy honoring Nancy's life will be delivered by Carey Chopin. Musical selections for the services will include: Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, Refuge for You, Let it Be, and I Bid You Goodnight. The family would like to acknowledge the following healthcare providers for the loving care and compassion offered to Nancy during her illnesses: Dr. Bradley Blappert and staff; The LTAC of Youngsville staff; the staff of University Medical Center, in particular the GYN, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, ICU and Telemetry services; the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Emergency Department and ICU, Intermediate Care Units. The family thanks the staff of Maison de Lafayette Nursing Care facility for their compassion and support toward Nancy's mother and family during this difficult time. Appreciation is extended to the LSU Health Science Center Anatomical Board staff for their assistance in assuring Nancy's wishes were honored.
