Olive Fruge Gisclaire

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in St. Genevieve Catholic Church for Olive Gisclaire, 90, who passed away on October 16, 2022. Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Olive Frugé Gisclaire went to meet Jesus at the age of 90, on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Olive was born and raised in Eunice. She lost both of her parents and her paternal grandmother by the time she was 10, leaving her an orphan. She was raised by her Godparents, Lerisa and Fergus Bushnell. Olive had a green thumb, was an avid golfer, a world traveler, & a servant of the Lord. Olive gave of herself in service to the Carmelites, for many years. Her son, Jerry, was her greatest love. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her great-great grandson were her greatest treasures. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary Pallbearer: Maverick Rogers. Olive, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Ceryac Fruge and the former Dorsaline Marcantel. She is survived by her son, Gerald Duplechin and wife, Georgia Marie; grandchildren, Corey Duplechin, Ryan (Tasha) Duplechin, and Casey Duplechin; great grandchildren, Haley, Beau, Gregory, Hunter, and Katelyn Duplechin, Tori Alcina, and Tyler Meche; one great-great grandson, Maverick Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nat R. Gisclaire; brother, Wallace Fruge, and her God Parents, Fergus and Lerisa Bushnell. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
