P. Frank Comeaux, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church - Broussard for P. Frank Comeaux, Jr., 96, who passed away on March 31, 2025. Fr. Michael Richard, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. The burial will take place in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Broussard. Paul Frank Comeaux, Jr. was born in Broussard, on March 20, 1929 to the late Paul Frank Comeaux, Sr. and Rhena Bernard Comeaux. He was the third of 4 children, and the only son. To those who knew him, Frank will likely be remembered as a hard-working family man who beamed with pride over his sons and their beautiful families. No doubt, many others will remember him as the toughest teacher they ever had, but possibly their favorite. Frank was also a talented ball player and golfer (very proud of his 4 hole-in-ones!) He also loved camping, Cajun dancing, and boiled crabs! He grew up in Broussard, only a few houses down from St. Cecilia School and Sacred Heart Church, places that would become cornerstones of his life. He was an altar-boy “as soon as they would take him” and remained so through high school. Other than 8th, 9th & 10th grades spent at St. Ben’s Seminary, Frank attended St. Cecilia School from K to 12th. He graduated from St. Cecilia High School in 1948, in a class of 15 and was the last living high school alum. During high school, Frank played basketball & semi-pro baseball at age 17. He was also in choir, men’s quartet, and mixed quartet; both of which placed 1st in state! Frank had fond memories of 4-H activities in high school, especially when they won a trip to Chicago to judge cows! He started SLI in 1948 majoring in Industrial Arts Education but left to serve 2 years in the Army before returning to graduate in 1954. He served as Private First Class at Fort Lee, Virginia from 1950 to 1952. Frank met his life’s love, Patsy, on a blind date, set up by his friend Al, who was married to Patsy’s sister. After graduation from SLI, he took the closest teaching job he could find in Hackberry where he would spend the next 11 years with 7th through 12th graders in industrial arts. He married Patsy on April 16 of 1955 and the two lived in Hackberry, where they began their family in a 2 bedroom “catty-corner” house that he and his brother-in-law, Lee built. While in Hackberry, Frank was a Civil Servant for Cameron Parish at the time of Hurricane Audrey and had vivid memories of helping with rescue efforts after the storm. The Comeauxs moved back to Broussard in 1965 shortly after Dennis was born, and enrolled the other boys in Frank’s alma mater, St. Cecilia. He built Comeaux’s Washeteria on Pinhook Rd and operated it for 27 years. Frank taught at North Side High for two years until moving to Youngsville Middle, where he remained until his retirement ten years later at age 53. Living in Broussard, the family began many years of camping together. First and for a while, with all 6 in the Chevy pickup with camper top… “with Dennis sleeping on the tailgate.” When asked a couple of years ago, “How do you want to be remembered,” he said “I always worked really hard and tried real hard for whatever I wanted to achieve and I got it… I want to be remembered as honest, and I want people to forgive me. I know I made a lot of mistakes.” Fumbling through tears to find the words, he tried to describe how his boys are his legacy. “I’m really proud of all my boys. They’ve all been so good to me, and they all have good in them.” He is survived by his sons, Patrick G. Comeaux (Michelle), Michael W. Comeaux (Marie), Karl J. Comeaux (Tammy), and Dennis J. Comeaux (Bobbi); grandchildren, T. J. Blanton (Brandy), Ashley Blanton, Allison C. Cook (Derek), Taylor C. Risner (Joshua), Wayne Comeaux, Whitney Ross, Olivia Ross, Julia R. Courville (Chase), Brittany C. Summerlin (Tyler), Morgan C. Fontenot (Taylor), Katie Comeaux, Michael Comeaux, Jenna Comeaux, and Joshua Comeaux; great-grandchildren, Knox, Max, Daphne, Khloe, Rowan, Lucia, June, Mila, and Prewitt; and sister, Jane Comeaux Mouton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Patsy Hebert Comeaux; parents, Frank and Rhena Comeaux; sisters, Ethel Comeaux (Lee Sr.) Martin and Ina Comeaux (Louis) Broussard; daughter-in-law, Sandra Boutte Comeaux; and brother-in-law, COL Gerald "Jerry" Mouton, retired USAF. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Broussard on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. The Pallbearers will be T. J. Blanton, Taylor Fontenot, Michael Comeaux, Joshua Comeaux, Wayne Comeaux, and Jorge Villagomez. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Summerlin and Lee Martin, Jr. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with Avanti Senior Living for the compassionate care provided to Frank in his time of need.
