Patrick Lee Colvin

Patrick Lee Colvin passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his girls, on May 1st, 2023 after a heroic battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born on April 23rd, 1954, Patrick was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, where he served his community as a reputable home builder in Acadiana through his business Venus Construction. He was a dedicated member of the Acadiana, Louisiana, and National Home Builders Association. He served in many capacities within the organizations, highlighted by his honor of Builder of the Year, President of the Association, and a seat on the National Board of Directors. Patrick’s love of home building led him to philanthropic endeavors including his time as the official Contractor of the St. Jude Dream home. It was his privilege to participate in this worthy cause for many years. He went on to be the Developer of many neighborhoods in the Lafayette area including Brentwood Cove, Coconut Grove, Flamingo Gardens, Floridian Flatts, Whispering Palms, Crystal Bay, Edgewater Estates, Tuscany, Harbor Lights, Cabana Row, and Summer Wind. The son of Juliette (Ashy) and Herschel Colvin, he loved his Lebanese family, cousins and cuisine. He happily shared this culture with his cajun wife of 39 years, Lark Landry Colvin. Together, they built a beautiful life together, having two girls, Erika and Kristen. Always an avid outdoorsman, Patrick enjoyed fowl hunting, and being on the water–whether it was fishing out of Cypremort Point, watching the sunset at False River or putting his toes in the sand at the beach in Destin. He had a passion for reading, traveling, watching football, and music. He particularly enjoyed handicapping football games and attending live performances, concerts, and broadway productions. Later in life, he took pleasure in the leisurely game of golf. Above all, spending time with his family was his pride and joy. Patrick is survived by his devoted Wife, Lark Colvin, his daughters, Erika Littell (Hart), and Kristen Domingue (Blake). His grandchildren, Bernard, Grace, and Lucille Littell and Monroe and Mignon Domingue. His siblings, Deborah Nails (companion Mike Allen), and Rebecca “Bekki” Boudreau (Mike). He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel Colvin, Jr. and Juliette Ashy Colvin and his brother, Michael Colvin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Chris Cambre at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Wednesday evening. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Hart Littell, Blake Domingue, Michael Boudreau, Amos Glaude, Doug Ashy, Jr., and Ricky Duhon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bernard Littell, III, Rocky Hollier, Glenn Ashy, and Dr. Donald Reed. In memory of Patrick, the family hopes you will take some time to learn about Lewy Body Dementia. The second-most diagnosed form of dementia (after Alzheimer’s), this disease also presents itself with Parkinson's-like symptoms. Due to this similarity, it is commonly misdiagnosed– leading to unnecessary suffering, wrong medications, and treatments. Many people with Lewy Body suffer for years before getting an accurate diagnosis. Patrick was diagnosed in early 2017, after displaying unnoticed symptoms for many years.
