Paul Harry Trahan

Fuenral services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Paul Harry Trahan, Sr., 73, who passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at his residence. Reverend Mario Romero, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Mr. Trahan, Sr., a resident of Maurice was the son of the late Noah Trahan and the former Enaise Montet both of Vermilion Parish. Paul was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He loved helping people. He was a traiteur, or Cajun healer, whose primary method of treatment involves the laying on of hands and of prayers. He was a dairy farmer and a home builder who enjoyed working with animals and growing crops. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He served on the board of directors for Southwest Pure Milk in the late 60's and was a past president of the young dairymens association, also in the late 60's and early 70's. He will be remembered by all as being very hardworking and a strong father for his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nellita S. Trahan of Maurice; three daughters, Rhonda Dupre and her husband, Bill of Maurice, Melissa Vincent and her husband, Phillip of Leroy and Kimberly Prat and her husband, Gordon of Coral Springs, Florida; three sons, Vernon J. Trahan and Phyllis Babineaux of New Iberia, Paul H. Trahan, Jr. and his wife, Angie of Maurice and Garland Noah Trahan and Monique Vice of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Andre, Eric, and Austin Dupre, Amiee Colomb, Christopher Prat, and Jacob and Emily Trahan; one sister, Mrs. Wilson Bourque of Duson; and one brother, Lynwood Trahan and his wife, Cora of Maurice. He was preceded in death by his his parents; one son, Richard Dean Trahan; one grandson, Christopher "J.R." Guidry, Jr., and one brother, Dallas J. Trahan. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm and on Tuesday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
