Phillip H. Maxwell

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Phillip Hyatt Maxwell, 85, who passed away on April 6, 2024. Fr. Howard Blessing will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park. Phillip, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Estes Maxwell and the former Pauline Owen. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force in 1961. Following his time of service, Phillip built a career spanning 30 years in outdoor furniture sales as a manufacture's representative. So many people loved and revered Phillip. To his family, he was a pillar of strength and the model of what a man truly embodies; we know he was faithful to Christ until the very end. These character traits were best evidenced by the long friendships Phillip kept throughout his life. A man of many talents, his fudge pies and pecan pies, in particular, were always the highlight of holiday meals. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Selma Abboud Pepiton; children, Gay L. Maxwell Rogers (Ronnie) and Phillip A. Maxwell (Tammy); step-sons, Peter Pepiton II (Amy) and Paul C. Pepiton (Christina); grandchildren, Todd D. Rogers (Brittney), Alexandra C. Maxwell, Aspen E. Maxwell, Grace Pepiton, and Caroline Pepiton; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Gentry, and Graham Rogers; sister, Barbara Maxwell Brown; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estes and Pauline Maxwell; and siblings, Owen Maxwell, Glenn Maxwell, and Mary Elizabeth Maxwell Fryer. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers on Friday, April 12, 2024 beginning at 9:00 AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM in the funeral home on Friday morning. Visiting hours will continue, following the Rosary, until the time of service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and nurses with The Oaks Care Center in Pineville, LA, for their care, love, and attention over these last few months, especially "Christmas" for her exceptional bedside manner. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Christus Hospice for their compassionate care in Phillip's time of need.
