Rena Bourque Baudoin

Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Rena Baudoin, 96, who passed away on June 22, 2010 at 11:15 pm at Magnolia Estates. Reverend Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in St. John Cemetery. Rena Bourque Baudoin was born and reared in Coteau, located in rural Iberia Parish, on November 20, 1913 to parents, Laurent Bourque and Elida Comeaux Bourque. She married Kossuth (K.J.) Baudoin and they lived in Iberia Parish and Jennings, before moving to Lafayette in 1947 with their five children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother. She was an accomplished professional seamstress who outfitted many queens and maids for various school and social functions in and around Lafayette. Her fashions were also seen being worn by numerous ladies in Lafayette. She designed and created her own patterns and sewed most of the clothing her family wore, including both of her sons and her three daughters. During her lifetime she worked at various stores in Lafayette including Mercedes', LaParisienne, Wormser's, Montgomery Ward, Molli's and was a friendly, familiar face as head seamstress at Kreeger's during that store's presence at the Mall of Acadiana. Rena was also a tremendous cook whose Sunday dinners were legendary. She always kept abreast of current events and had a warm, delightful sense of humor. She is survived by two daughters, Genevieve Baudoin Lambert and husband Maxie of Lafayette, and Renola Baudoin Petitfils of Lafayette; two sons, Carroll Baudoin and wife Gaynell Howard Baudoin of Lafayette, and Richard Baudoin and wife Marcella Alpha Baudoin of Lafayette; fifteen grandchildren, Pia Baudoin Richard, Patryce Baudoin, Beau Baudoin, Michelle Wolf Davis, Andrea Wolf Billeaud, Kevin Wolf, Christie Lambert Tate, Micah Lambert, Pam Petitfils Koshak, Angela Petitfils Barrilleaux, Bobby Petitfils, Scott Petitfils, Kathy Petitfils, Laura Baudoin Ashurst, and Lisa Baudoin Valentin; thirty-three great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kossuth (K.J.) Baudoin; one daughter, Ruth Baudoin Wolf; sons-in-law, Clyde Wolf and Robert Petitfils; great grandson, Trent Guchereau; one sister, Mable Bourque Beaullieu; and one brother, Otis Bourque. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6:30 pm in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Estates and Journey Hospice of Acadiana for the loving care extended to Rena.
