Roberta Bullock Bourque

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2010 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Roberta Bullock Bourque, 90, who passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a self-employed hair dresser for more than 50 years. As the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, she was a commited volunteer, devoted supporter of the church and a member of Vera Prather's Sunday school class. She was a women of great fatih, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved being around her family. The Reverend Perry R. Sanders, Pastor Emeritus and Reverend Luther Burney both of First Baptist Church, will officiate the services. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. After 44 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Bourque. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys Bullock; her brothers, Hercanus Bullock and Herman Bullock; her sisters, Marie Feducia, Evestine Ostteen, and Vera Jones and her son-in-law, Newton R. Landry. She is survived by three children; daughter, Janell Hernandez and husband Lynn; son Tommy Bourque and wife Barbara; and daughter Annette Landry. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Gwen Chauvin and husband Leonard, Donna Jones, Susan Hernandez and partner Chris Myers; The Honorable judge Todd Hernandez and wife Shannon; Daran Landry and wife Dawn; Rachelle Simon and husband Michael, Ryan Bourque and wife Jennifer, and Alicia Bourque and her partner Shawn Cromwell, and one step-grandson, Frank Landry. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren, Ashley Broussard, Tre Chauvin, Celeste Chauvin, Devin Landry, Benjamin Hernandez, Brant Hernandez, Reagan Simon, Angela Bourque, Hunter Bourque, Connor Simon, Grace Hernandez, Brady Hernandez, Juliana Simon, and Lane Bourque. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Hunt. Scriptures are being ready by Gwen Chauvin, Rachelle Simon, and Alicia Bourque. The family request that the visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 8:00 am until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Lynn Hernandez, The Honorable Judge Todd Hernandez, Daran Landry, Ryan Bourque, Leonard Chauvin, Michael Simon, and Larry Ostteen. Angelistic Pallbearers include Newton Landry and Wes Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons.
