Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Roland Anthony Dominique, who passed away on November 14, 2025. Reverend Howard Blessing will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Roland Anthony Dominique, 81, of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 15, fighting with courage until his final breath. Roland was not a perfect man, but he was a real one - steady, intentional, sharp-minded, and loyal in the ways that mattered most. He left this world the same way he moved through it: on his own terms - slow, steady, and with purpose. He was extremely proud of his Lebanese heritage and family. He had a natural instinct for reading people and understanding the world in a way most never learn. Those instincts would later define his life. Known by many as “The Legend” Roland was locally and nationally recognized for his skills as a professional poker player - a craft he honed with discipline, intelligence, and a calm confidence that earned him deep respect. Alongside poker, he built a reputation as a savvy businessman - always thinking three steps ahead, always calculated, always deliberate. Roland wasn’t soft, but he was nurturing in his own distinct way. He could be tough and direct, yet he had a generous heart and gave quietly to those who needed it. He believed in helping where he could, offering guidance, and looking out for the people he cared about. His life changed the day he met the love of his life, Linda. With her came three children he embraced as his own, raising them with pride. Together, Roland and Linda later welcomed a son, Alcide Dominique, named in honor of Roland’s father. Their home was built on strength, loyalty, and unity - a family held together by the foundation Roland and Linda created. In their earlier years, Roland and Linda owned numerous businesses and also thoroughbred horses. Often, they could be found at Evangeline Downs enjoying the races with family and friends. Roland loved competition, sports, business, music, good food, as well as quality time with family and friends - the things that kept his mind sharp and his spirit alive. Roland’s favorite song was “My Way” by Frank Sinatra - it was a reflection of how he lived. He faced challenges head-on, stood tall through victories as well as losses, and refused to live by anyone else’s script. Risks he took were calculated. He took some blows through his 81 years but kept going, guided always by his faith and an internal compass that never wavered. He was a fighter, a true survivor, and would lead by example. He owned every part of his story. Through every chapter, he carried himself with resilience and determination with a unique sense of direction that many would never understand but it defined him until the end. He was truly one of a kind. As he completes his earthly journey, Roland leaves behind a legacy built on strength, loyalty, and the quiet kind of wisdom that leaves an imprint long after someone is gone. He will be remembered as a father, a protector, a provider, a man of principle, a man of caution, a man of faith and having a very unique personality that simply cannot be replicated. He was a force to be recon with. May his soul rest in peace and may the love and concern he gave continue guiding those who carry his name and memory forward. Mr. Dominique, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Alcide Dominique and the former Aline Olley. He is survived by his biological son, Alcide Michael Dominique and partner, Jeremiah Mitchell; step children, Debra Seaux and husband, Bobby, Bethany Newville and husband, Randy, and Bryon Gilbert and wife, Sheri; grandchildren, Abram Michael Dominique; grandchildren, Brandon Seaux, Justin Seaux, Tyler Seaux and wife, Jaclyn, Kristen Seaux and wife, Brittany, and Kellie Vincent and husband, Chris, Joshua Newville and wife, Melissa, Kimberly Cooperman and husband, Tommy, and Hannah Gilbert and partner, Alyssa, as well as several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sieglinde "Linda" Dominique; grandchildren, Adler, Briggs, and Cooper Dominique; siblings, Paul Dominique and Mary Ann Ashy. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
