Roselyn Zimmerman Arceneaux

Roselyn Rita Arceneaux, known affectionately as Rosie, passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 84 in Morgan City, Louisiana. Born in January 1940, in Franklin, Louisiana, to Alex and Thelma Derouen Zimmerman, Rosie was a source of love, warmth, and care to everyone she met throughout her life. Rosie attended Franklin High School and later graduated from Charity Nursing School of New Orleans. She dedicated her early career to nursing before deciding to focus full-time on her family as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Rosie's nurturing nature was evident in every aspect of her life, always putting the needs of others before her own. Rosie was an excellent cook who took pride in preparing amazing meals for her well-fed family and anyone who happened to drop by. She supported her children in all of their endeavors through the years. She loved her many friends and family members. She traveled with Fernest (and sometimes her son Burt) to Mexico and several times to France for extended trips to visit friends in foreign lands. She and Fernest also hosted friends when they visited from abroad, sharing their love of Cajun culture with them. She leaves behind her beloved husband of almost 63 years, Fernest Arceneaux; children, Kirk (Garnet) Arceneaux of Franklin, LA, Burt Arceneaux of Lafayette, LA, Adrian Cody Arceneaux of Richmond TX, and Nanette (Tim Alexander) Arceneaux of Norcross, GA; three grandchildren, Olivia Arceneaux (Mark) Simoneaux, Alex (Hanna) Arceneaux, and Zachary Arceneaux; three beautiful great grandchildren who brought her much joy Levi Simoneaux, Alexandra Simoneaux, and Madeline Simoneaux. She is also survived by siblings, Gail (Amar) Lancon and Hilary (Mary) Zimmerman. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Thelma Zimmerman and siblings, Herman Zimmerman, Luna Bodin, and Laura Belle Trahan. A Mass of Christian Burial, in honor of Rosie's life, will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson, LA on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours will be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Lafayette beginning on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to LARC, where her son Burt resides. Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and joie de vivre.
