Roy Clark

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for Roy Clark, 90, who passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at his home in Duson. Entombment will be held in Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott. Reverend Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Linda and Angela Clark. Giftbearers will be Robin Andrepont and Analise Clark. Mr. Clark was a lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish and attended Judice High School. He was a proud WW II veteran of the United States Army and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign, earning two Bronze Stars; earned the Philippine Liberation RIbbon with one Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal while stationed in the Philippines; earned the Army OCC Medal while stationed in Japan; earned a Victory Ribbon; and two Overseas Service Bars. After joining the VA Post 9822 in Judice, he served as Honor Guard, burying many of his fallen comrades. His passion was overseeing his farm, cattle, mending fences on his property and was a member of the Beekeeper Association, selling honey to friends and neighbors. He loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Clark will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Eva Mae Bourque Clark; three sons, Melvin Clark (Linda), Russell Clark and Dave Clark (Angela); one foster-son, Conrad Daspit (Gloria); seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leode and Cecila Duhon Clark; one foster-son, Laurence Daspit; two sisters, Bernice Bourque and Hazel Lavergne; and one brother, Aaron Clark. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday, January 19, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home in Scott from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Monday evening in the Funeral Home. Visiting hours will continue Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be James Olds, Carl Lavergne, Jim Andrepont, Wilbert Bourque, Shane Miller and Chris Barnhill. The family would like to thank Mr. Clark's hospice nurses, Angela Disatell and Sheryl Trahan, for their compassionate care.
