Shirley Ann Sonnier

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church for Shirley Ann Sonnier, 84, who passed away on June 8, 2025. Reverend Edward Duhon, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Mire. Shirley was a Homemaker, loved the Casino, sewing, and tending to her roses and plants outdoors. She was a mother-like figure, sister, aunt, friend, and a "Me Maw" to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be forever remembered by all who knew her, and she did not hesitate to offer a helping hand to others. Shirley, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Berchman Venable, Sr. and the former Laurence Latiolais. She is survived by her brother, Berchman Venable, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; along with a great-great niece, "Brittany Thomassee", which she loved as a daughter she never had; along with a few other nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin "Porky" Sonnier; siblings, Mildred Credeur, Davis Venable, Thelma LeBlanc, Clarence Venable, Norman Venable, Floyd Venable, Irvin Venable, Myrtle Mae Venable, Shelby Venable, and Harold Venable. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Pallbearers will be Don Venable, Chad Venable, Kevin Venable, Koury "Smokey" Lafosse, Lynn Menard, and Randy Menard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leland Menard, Ricky Credeur, Ranno Credeur, and Wade Credeur.
