Stanley Thomas Duhon

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, June 17, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Stanley Thomas Duhon, 88, who passed away at his daughter's residence in Lafayette on June 15, 2011 at 7:40 pm. Reverend Steven LeBlanc will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with full military honors. Mr. Duhon was born in Milton, Louisiana on January 14, 1923. He grew up on the family farm in Milton during the depression with many stories to tell. In about 1937, his family moved to Lafayette where he attended Lafayette High School. After one semester at Southwest Louisiana Institute, he joined the United States Navy in 1941, just prior to the beginning of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater of WWII as a Radio Airman First Class on the B-26 Light Bomber. He spent much of his life relating stories of his military experience from 1941 to 1947. After the war, he returned home where he eventually married and became proprietor of Phillip's "66" service station at "4 Corners" at the intersection of University and Cameron street. He retired n 1976 and moved to Carencro, Louisiana, where he lived on "The Farm" from 1976 until just prior to his death. Mr. Duhon was an avid reader until his death. He was a Charter Member of Oakbourne Country Club, where many of his fondest memories included the many friends he met during his many years of playing golf. He was an original donor Our Lady of Fatima School where his children attended and graduated from. He is survived by six children, Tana Trahan and her husband, Dr. Dale M. Trahan, David T. Duhon, Lowell G. Duhon and his wife, Jill Longman Duhon, Dean P. Duhon, Tracy Faulk, Jay A. Duhon and his wife Marlisa Tortorici Duhon all of Lafayette; fifteen grandchildren, Lindsey Trahan Vince, Dr. Erin Trahan Pratt, Tyler M. Trahan, Dr. Angelle M. Trahan, Timothy M. Trahan, Manny G. Duhon, Elise Duhon, Mathew C. Duhon, Jared A. Duhon, Jude E. Duhon, Taylor Anne Faulk, Dustin J. "DJ" Faulk, Michael Faulk, Madeleine Duhon and Anthony Duhon; eleven great grandchildren, Emma V. Vince, Presley Pratt, Reese M. Pratt, Olivia M. Trahan, Sydney C. Trahan, Margaux E. Trahan, Natalie G. Duhon, Eliana J. Duhon, Caleb M. Duhon, Justice A. Duhon and Joy A. Duhon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lodoiska Guidry Duhon, and one brother, Raywood J."Bud" Duhon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers on Friday from 12:00 pm until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Dustin J. Faulk, David T. Duhon, Lowell G. Duhon, Dean P. Duhon, Jay A. Duhon and Timothy M. Trahan. Honorary Pallbearer will be Paul Dale Duhon.
