Stella Monique Trahan

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Stella Monique Trahan, 93, who passed away on September 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family Fr. Howard Blessing will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Mrs. Trahan, a longtime resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Alfred Monic and the former Edmay Simon. Stella worked as a secretary for many years until she retired. She was a member of several clubs, such as: Crusin' Cajuns, Les Amis, Outlaws, Bayou Ramblers, FMCA, and Lafayette Boat Club. Stella was also a long-time member of a Pokeno group, which also played various cards games. She loved camping, vacationing, and travelling, making many wonderful friends along the way. Stella loved gardening in her spare time and will be deeply missed by many. She is survived by her beloved husband of 76 years, Horace Paul Trahan; brother, Norris Monique; half-brother, Lennis Cormier (Mary); many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Monic and Edmay Cormier; step-father, Willie Cormier; sister-in-law, Joyce Monique; and brothers-in-law, Luther Gallet, Manuel Trahan, and Wade Huval. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Randy Gallet, Keith Gallet, Ricky Huval, Steven Bellard, Darren Bourque, and Brogan Babin; serving as honorary pallbearer will be Norris Monique. Horace would like to give his appreciation and thanks to their godchildren, Randy Gallet and Ronta Bellard for helping with all their needs. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Tillie Westbrook, Betty Malveaux, Vicky Castille, Sue Meche, and Erma Arangal for the compassionate care given to Stella and Horace.
