A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Stephannie Simone Arabie who was born on March 4, 1974 and passed away on October 12, 2024. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 21 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle, LA. Fr. Louis J. Richard will conduct the funeral services on Wednesday in Lafayette. Inurnment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Fr. Mark Toups will celebrate the Memorial Mass on Monday in Grand Isle. For over 25 years, Stephannie has dedicated her life to the service of others as a teacher, coach, and school counselor. Graduating from University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly USL) with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education and Nicholls State University with a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, she has worked in both Lafourche and Jefferson parish public schools, devoting the majority of her years at Grand Isle School. In addition to being a zealous educator and student advocate, Stephannie was also a published author with an ardent love of books with a passion for reading and writing. Beyond her love affair with books, Stephannie has dedicated her life to nurturing well-educated, "Good humans" who share her appreciation for reading. As a firm believer in the transformative power of literature, she strived to cultivate a generation that treasures the written word as much as she did. When not immersed in the enchanting realms created by authors, Stephannie cherished precious moments spent with her wife, their little one, beloved pets, and extensive extended family and friends which hold a special place in her heart, providing solace and support amidst life's adventures. One of the greatest joys and gifts in Stephannie’s life was definitely being Ryver’s mom. While literature and family were undoubtedly at the forefront of Stephannie's life, she also found joy in exploring new horizons through travel. From vibrant cities to serene landscapes, she reveled in discovering diverse cultures far and wide. However, no matter how far she ventured or how many stories she encountered, Stephannie always returned to her humble abode on the seven-mile island. Stephannie Simone, a resident of Grand Isle, LA, was the daughter of the late Ralston “Bobby” Arabie and the late Claire Lynn Thayer Arabie. She is survived by her wife, Clare Jane Avory-Arabie; daughter, Ryver Boutte; adoptive mother, Renee Resweber Arabie of New Iberia, LA; her siblings, Charles Arabie and his wife Tina of Marrero, LA; Brandon Arabie and his wife Catherine of Abbeville, LA; Stella Arabie-Delcambre and her husband Tony of New Iberia; Damon Arabie and his wife Penny of Westminster, CO; Esther Nicole Arabie of New Iberia; Sarah Arabie of New Iberia; Lucy Ryals and her husband Jeremy of Bossier City, LA; Anne Jones and her husband Dale of New Iberia; Anthony Arabie of Mackinac Island, MI, and Alan Arabie and his wife Claire of Lafayette, LA; several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, loved ones and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, T.J. Thayer and Virginia Ruth Raggio Thayer, Willie Paul Arabie and Altie Simon Arabie; uncle, Keith Wayne Thayer; aunts Judith Trahan and Marilyn Arabie; niece, Cheyenne Arabie. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 beginning at 12:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home. The visitation will continue, following the Rosary, until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial and honoraria giving be made to Scholarships at Grand Isle High School.
