Steven Joel Gennuso

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Steven Joel Gennuso, 50, who died Wednesday, March 19, 2008. At this time, friends and family will gather to share their memories of Steve. Interment will take place at Fountain Memorial Gardens. Born in Opelousas on October 16, 1957, he was the second child of Stephen J. Gennuso and Nancy Larson Gennuso. In 1961, Steve, his sister and his mother moved to Baton Rouge. He attended Trinity Episcopal Day School, Southdowns Elementary School, Glasgow Junior High School and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1975. He worked in Lafayette for his father's business, Professional Bonding, for a number of years. Since then and until his death, he worked throughout the southern states and up the eastern coast as a land man, most recently in the petroleum industry. The highlight of each year for Steve was attending the New Orleans Jazz Festival. He was introduced to live jazz when he was taken to Preservation Hall as a 3-year old. Survivors include his parents, his sister Laurel and her husband, Robert R. Herrington; their daughters, Robin E. Herrington and Blair H. Napolitano and her husband, Anthony all of Baton Rouge; his aunts, Susan Kimberly Peregrim and her husband, John of Placerville, CA; Mary Lou Larson-Kornfield and her husband, Marcell of Laramie, WY, Bea Pefferkorn, and her husband, Dale of Opelousas, LA; his uncle, Sal Gennuso and his wife, Jean of Baton Rouge. His mother, father and sister wish to express their appreciation to some special people who have helped them through a rough time: Clem Story, William (Bill) Stringfield and Jude Landry. In addition, they acknowledge their gratitude for the personal attention, professional demeanor and patience demonstrated by the Arkansas 'team', the AHMS doctors and staff; the Little Rock Police Department, Homicide Squad of the Detective division, and the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency. Pallbearers will include Jude Landry, William 'Bill' Stringfield, Clement Story, Richard Mouton, Gary Dugas and Hayes Pousson. Honorary pallbearers will include Roy Simon and Scott Fajo.
