Tammy Myers

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 5, 2009, at East Bayou Baptist Church for Tammy Marie Deluca Myers, 34, who died at 8:30am on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, after fighting a long, courageous battle with cervical cancer. She was surrounded by those she loved and she now sees Jesus face to face. Reverend Gary Funderburk, Associate Pastor of East Bayou Baptist Church will conduct the services. Caryn Bodin, Tammy's sister, and Chalan Thibodeaux will sing for the service. Survivors include Tammy's amazing husband, Jason William Myers, his mother, Dena Miller, and his family; her mother, Jean Noel and her husband Don Noel; her father Robert Deluca and his wife, Emma Bonin; her sister, Caryn Deluca Bodin and her husband Howard James Bodin Jr., and her niece, Hannah Elyse Bodin; her aunt, Linda Orr; her aunt, Loretta Narrell of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; her aunt, Patricia Kline; her paternal grandmother, Phyllis Deluca; and many other close friends and family. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Col. James Narrell Jr., her grandfather, Lt. Col. James E. Narrell Sr, her grandmother Lucille Larriviere Narrell, her uncle Jim Orr and her paternal grandfather, Robert Deluca. Tammy was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but was a resident of Lafayette since she was just one year old. She attended Broadmoor Elementary, Edgar Martin, and was a graduate of Lafayette High School class of 1992. Tammy was employed at Delhomme Funeral home as a secretary and was loved by all of her co-workers. She was a member of East Bayou Baptist church, where she accepted Christ into her life in 1999. She was baptized with her mom, aunt Loretta and uncle Jim on her grandfather's birthday, and she became an active member of the choir and even sang on praise team for a time. In 2007, she met the love of her life, Jason Myers. As a trained paramedic, he was her angel throughout her sickness. Our family owes a great deal of gratitude to him and are thrilled that on Tuesday, May 26th, Tammy and Jason were married. Tammy fought a tremendous battle with cervical cancer. Diagnosed in March of 2008 with stage 1B1 glandular cervical cancer and then again in December with stage IV, she bravely endured surgery, chemotherapy, and intense radiation treatment. The family would like to thank Dr. Mika King, her OBGYN and dear friend; Dr. Prellop, her nurse Paula, and the entire staff at Oncologics for their love and support during Tammy's illness; the oncology staff at UMC 5-North for the superior care and treatment she received there; and Dr. Hoffpauier and the staff at Hospice of Acadiana. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until time of service at East Bayou Baptist Church.
