Teri "Tricia" P Hawkins

Visitation for Tricia Prudhomme Hawkins will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Monday, December 23, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Delhomme Funeral Home, Bertrand Location. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Delhomme Funeral Home. The Reverend Joe Breaux will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow at Fountain Memorial Cemetery. Born October 27, 1956 in Opelousas, Louisiana, Tricia passed away peacefully December 19, 2013 at her residence in Lafayette, Louisiana, after a long battle with cancer. She graduated from Lafayette High School and from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Tricia was a passionate and dedicated teacher who devoted 30 years to the education and formation of her students. She had the privilege of teaching at Cathedral Carmel School, Teurlings Catholic High School, and, most recently, St. Thomas More Catholic High School. A devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, Tricia was a person of tremendous faith. She was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother, praying the rosary every morning on her commute to school. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, friend, and colleague who will be remembered by all as loving, charismatic, and caring. Even in her final days, Tricia always thought of others first. She was a wonderful listener and always eager to help in any way she could. She is preceded in death by her brother, Barry Prudhomme. She is survived by her parents, Terry and Vera Prudhomme; her husband, Rick Hawkins; her son, Kevin Hawkins; her daughter Erin Hawkins Thomas and husband Joshua; two grandsons, Peyton and Tucker Thomas; three brothers, Mark Prudhomme and wife Mary, Dwight Prudhomme and wife Judy, and Billy Prudhomme and wife Shelia. Pallbearers will be Mark Prudhomme, Dwight Prudhomme, Billy Prudhomme, Christopher Prudhomme, Mike Hawkins, Michael Hawkins, and Ken Hawkins. The family extends sincere thanks to all of the medical professionals for their compassionate service during her illness, especially Dr. Karen Roden and Hospice of Acadiana’s Dr. Morris Hoffpauir and Iggy Landry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana (2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.) Arrangements have been entrusted to Delhomme Funeral Home (1011 Bertrand Drive) of Lafayette, LA.
