Thelma Richard Terrebonne

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Broussard for Mrs. Thelma Richard Terrebonne, 89, who passed away on September 6, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. Fr. Keith Landry will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral service. Inurnment will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park at a later date. Ms. Thelma, a resident of Broussard, was the daughter of the late Artibuse Richard and the former Ella Broussard. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, baking pies/cooking, painting, camping, pokeno, bouree and caring for others. She loved being "Mawmaw" to Robert and Debbie Viator's children and grandchildren, and sharing life with family and friends. She enjoyed the years of being co-owner of Buddy's Superette with her late husband "Mr. Buddy", and being known as "Mrs. Buddy". She is survived by her only child, Lady Terrebonne of Broussard; sister, Leola Broussard of Gretna; sister-in-law, Shirley Bodoin of Broussard; nieces, Linda Greathouse of Gretna, Sharon Ray of TN., Susan Robin of Abbeville, Monna Estep of Lake Charles; nephews, Errol Cheramie of Lake Charles, Douglas and Mark Richard of AR., Eric Bodoin of TN., Kirk Bodoin of Broussard, and Kevin Bodoin of England; numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Buddy Terrebonne; parents, Artibuse and Ella Richard; brothers, Duras "Toospick" Richard and Joseph Leroy Bodoin; sister, Evelyn Cheramie; nieces, Janice Cheramie and Arlene Cheramie; nephews, Brent Bodoin, Alvin Bodoin, and Mitchell Bodoin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Broussard on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 8:00AM until time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 12:00PM. Pallbearers will be Errol "Bubba" Cheramie, Christopher Cheramie, Gary Estep, Jacques Dehotels, Gabe Daigle, and Joseph Gwaltney. The family would like to thank the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center 10th floor West Tower and Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion given.
