Theresa "T.C." Marie Smith Thompson

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Theresa Marie Smith Thompson, 78, who passed away on February 27, 2024. Rev. Ralph Ford and Rev. Chris Blanchard, retired Pastors of Covenant Methodist Church of Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. "TC", a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Gordon Smith Sr. and the former Theresa Boudreaux. "TC" worked in the oilfield as a secretary and administrative assistant for several companies. She was recording secretary and later president of Desk & Derrick, Morgan City Chapter. She was also a registered member of Kelly Girls, which was a temp service. "TC" was an outdoors person that loved to hunt with her grandson, Matthew. She could drop any animal, dress it out, and butcher it all alone. Years ago, one of her fondest memories was hunting out of season with her sisters and having the game warden show up at the campsite. Funniest thing ever! She also loved to dance with her favorite partner, Herb. Her family was her life! "TC" was a member of Covenant Methodist Church, where she was an usher with her dear friend, Mercia Dahmer for 30+ years and husband, Herb. She loved her church and church family. She is survived by her husband, Herbert W. Thompson; children, Belina Ledet Hebert (Todd), Darla C. Ledet, and Scott A. Ledet; grandchildren, Lexy Humphrey (Andrew), Matthew Alwell (Kari), Nicole Anderson, and Shannon Thompson (James); sisters, Patricia Smith Fitzgerald (Floyd) and Cindy Smith Fernandez (Mike); sisters-in-law, Lisa Smith and Rhiannon Boyle; stepchildren, Becky Lowe (Mark), Sarah Walker (Luke), and Cole Thompson (Jenny); many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Smith and Theresa Whatley; brother, Gordon Smith, Jr; sister, Barbara Smith Corrales; nephew, Don Paul Rodrigue; and step-grandson, Mark Lowe, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Honorary Pallbearers will be Austin Humphrey, Cason Alwell, Cohen Alwell, Cameren Allen, Cayden Anderson, Christian Bourque, and Kylie Bourque. The family requests any memorial offerings be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or Hospice of Acadiana, in memory of "T.C.".
