Thomas "Tommy" James Privat

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Thomas "Tommy" James Privat, Sr., 74, who passed away on August 24, 2015. Reverend William Schambough, Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Milton, will be Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery #2 in Rayne, LA. Tommy , a resident of Lafayette , was the fourth son of the late Roland Privat and the former Marie Heinen. He is survived by his 3 children, Dana Privat Carter and her husband, Mark; Thomas J. Privat, Jr. and his wife, Chenell, Parrish Privat and their mother, Pam McDonald; eight grandchildren, Zachary Privat and his wife, Morgan, Hunter Privat, Brandon Privat, Courtland Privat, Colleen Privat, Amelia Privat, Cole Carter and Grace Carter; one great grandson, Benjamin Thomas Privat; one sister, Ann Burch and one brother, Dan Privat and his wife, Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Louis Privat, Bobby Privat and Eddie Privat. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Tommy attended Cathedral Carmel in Lafayette and graduated from St. Joseph's in Rayne. He served in the U. S. Navy as a First Class Seaman. Tommy began his career as a draftsman alongside his father at Privat Brothers Lumber and soon thereafter engaged in a career in the oil and gas industry in various positions. He retired from Quintana Petroleum Corp. with 25 years of service. Tommy's love was his children, grandchildren and friends. He was known to his grandkids as PaPa "Candy" and had a heart of gold and a generous spirit. Pallbearers will be his five grandsons. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful caregivers, Leslie, Jamie and especially T'Challa for their compassionate care of our loving father.
