Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers, for Timothy T. Sloan, Lieutenant Colonel, USAR, Retired, 67, who passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his Lafayette residence. Father Gilbert Dutel of St. Edmond’s Church will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Port Hudson National Cemetery Zachary, Louisiana. Timothy, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Richard M. Sloan and Geraldine Flahie Sloan. Timothy was a strong, supportive, and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, Godfather, and soldier. He spent 30 years of his life working in the Oilfield. Although a Texan at heart, he moved to South Louisiana, loving its people and their food. Known to many as “the Colonel,” Timothy served his family and his country passionately. During his 26-year career in the US Army and US Army Reserves, Timothy was a fearless leader and guide. These qualities were present in all aspects of his life. He was also a very exuberant lead trumpet player in the Sloan Family Reunion Sitting and Walking Band-questra. Well done, Sir. Stand at ease. Timothy leaves behind: his wife, Linda Conrad Sloan; his daughters Jacquelin Sloan, Jennifer Kost and husband Doug; grandchildren, Audrey Helen and Marshall Sloan Kost; his brother, David; his sister, Elizabeth Perez; and several nieces and nephews. Timothy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 33 years, Helen Lovelady Sloan. Family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm until time of services at Delhomme Funeral Home 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA. Pallbearers: Jonathan Perez; James Perez; David Michael Sloan; George Todd Sloan; Richard Geoffrey Sloan; Timothy Patrick Sloan; Matthew Hardy Sloan.
