Wanda Pearl Coleman

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Mrs. Wanda Pearl Harris Coleman, 79, who passed away on March 21, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Coleman, a native of Edinburg, TX and resident of Scott, was the daughter of the late Elmer Harris and the former Georgia Aaron. Mrs. Coleman graduated from Edinburg High School in May of 1956. On June 9th 1956, Mrs. Coleman married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Dan Louis Coleman Jr. They were married for 58 years until Mr. Coleman passed away on July 16, 2014, the saddest day of her life. Mrs. Coleman began working for AT&T in December of 1957 in McAllen, TX. She also worked in Harlingen and Mercedes, TX before transferring to Lafayette in 1964. She retired on April 30th 1989 with 32 years of service as an Assistant Manager in Operator Services. Upon retirement from AT&T, Mrs. Coleman enrolled and graduated from Lafayette Regional Votech in 1992 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked from 1992 to 2002 at LSU Medical Center in the Newborn Nursery. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, watching sports, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Bev Everett and husband Don of Judice and Dan Louis Coleman III of Alexandria; grandson, Beau Tinnin and wife Alana of Richardson, TX; great grandson, Sidney Daniel Tinnin; brother, Jimmy Harris and wife Alice of San Antonio, TX; niece, Carolyn McDonald and husband Daryl of Ft. Worth, TX; nephews, Mike Gwin and wife Carol of Corpus Christi, TX, Glenn Harris of Victoria, TX, Steve Harris and wife Clarice of Santa Fe, TX, Kevin Harris of San Antonio, TX, Clay Woods and wife Maureen of Morriston, FL, Carl Woods of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and god daughter, Michelle Castille of Breaux Bridge, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Louis Coleman Jr.; parents; brother, Donald Harris; and sister, Alma Mae Harris Gwin. Mrs. Coleman wanted to extend her heartfelt thanks Dr. John Mickey, Lisa and the entire staff, for the care they gave Dan and Wanda for more than 25 years. Thanks to Dr. Donald Reed, Dan and Wanda's family doctor, for the care and compassion he showed them for many years. Thanks to Miles Perret Cancer Services for their kindness, concern and help they have shown Wanda. Thanks to Allison Bertrand, Nurse Practitioner with the Cancer Center of Acadiana for being there when Wanda needed her the most. Thanks to Heart of Hospice for the care they gave Wanda during her final days, especially her nurses, RN Francine Pinkley, RN Tara Baudoin, Dr. Sterns, and the entire staff.
