Warren P. Guilbeaux

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Warren P. Guilbeaux, Sr., 86, of Scott, LA who entered eternal life peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday March 8, 2012. Reverend David Hebert of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott will officiate the services. He will be laid to rest at Cavalry Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will continue on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Warren was born on January 19,1926 in Crowley, LA, to Paul Francis Guilbeaux and Bertha Hollier Guilbeaux and was a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family was the most important thing in his life and he worked very hard at taking care of everyone. Throughout his life he made many friends as he was a very outgoing person who would strike up a conversation with anyone he met anywhere at any time. Warren was a veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific. It was in the Navy that he advanced his knowledge as an electrician and also became interested in air conditioning. Upon his return from the service he worked in various jobs repairing appliances and air conditioners. In later years he migrated into the supply house arena and was a successful businessman who owned and operated Cagle Supply, Inc. with his family until he sold the business and retired in 1984. He was also very active in civic organizations being a lifetime member and past president of the Optimist Club of Lafayette and the Young Men's Business Club. During his years of active membership with the Optimists, he and the other members of the club were able to help establish the Leukemia wing at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, which was dedicated to his daughter, Debbie who succumbed to leukemia at age 7. He was also active in organizations that were business related such as the Acadian Homebuilders Association and the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Wholesalers (ARW) which today has merged and is known as Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI). He served on the national board of directors of the ARW and remained active until his retirement. He was also well known in the political arena on a local and state level having served on the local parish Democratic committee and was a delegate to the National Democratic Convention in 1984. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 69. He is survived by his children, W. Paul Guilbeaux, Jr. (Becky) and Anne G LeBlanc. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Emily Denais (Alexson), Abby LeMaire (Bryan), Kathryn Guilbeaux her partner Heather Meaux, Jenny LeBlanc, his godchild, Janice Tower and great-grandsons Coy Denais, Tyler LeBlanc-Scola, and Aaron LeMaire who were a special joy to him. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded In death by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Faye T. Guilbeaux, a daughter, Debra Elaine Guilbeaux, and grandson Josh Guilbeaux. He was also preceded by his brother, A. Russell Guilbeaux and sisters, Mildred Dommert, Marion Gremillion, and Laura Baronet. Pallbearers will be Alexson Denais, Bryan Lemaire, Kerk LeBlanc, Randy Curtis, Kevin Hebert and David Hebert. Honorary Pallbearers will be Samuel P. Guilbeaux and his great grandsons, Coy, Tyler and Aaron.
