Warren Larkin Thomas

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church for Warren Larkin Thomas, 101, who passed away on January 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend Richard Humphries, Pastor of Asbury Methodist Church, will conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Mr. Thomas, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late William Llewellyn Thomas of Aniston, Alabama and the former Elizabeth Warren of Starksville, Mississippi. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Thomas graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. He was a Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp having served during W.W.II. Upon his return from the War he started a career with Chevron as a Petroleum Engineer, he retired in 1976 as head of Off Shore Drilling. He then went to work for Central Industries as their personnel director. He was a founding member of Asbury Methodist Church and a member of Oakborne Country Club and the Petroleum Club. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Ann Thomas; his son, William Lowell Thomas and his wife Mello Motlow Thomas; his grandchildren, William L. Thomas, Thomas L. Thomas and Christina Perri; great grandchildren, Larkin F. Thomas, Collin J. Thomas, and Leah Thomas Altmore; as well as his beloved pet, "Blondie". He was preceded in death by his wife, Achsah Killian Thomas; his parents; his sisters and his brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 11:00 am until time of service in Lafayette. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Mr. Thomas to Asbury United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Blvd., Lafayette, LA 70503 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Pallbearers will be William, Tommy, Larkin, and Collin Thomas, Allen and Christopher Schriefer, Bob Lowe and Troy Farris.
