Wayne Michael Trahan

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Family Life Church for Wayne Michael Trahan, 73, who passed away on August 3, 2024. Pastor Brandon Miller will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Trahan, a resident of Maurice, was the son of the late Caffery Trahan and the former Edna "Bobbie" O'Toole. Born and raised in Scott Louisiana, Wayne was a track star in school and attended Scott High School. He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service in the Republic of Vietnam during the period of October 1970 to December 1971. He fulfilled his life by building a family that he cherished every single day. He spent 41 years of truck driving, with the start of those years at Carr Truck Service moving drilling rigs with his late Father-in-law Chester Hebert. Of those 41 years 22 were spent driving cross country as an owner operator to provide for his family. He proudly trucked through all 48 states, Mexico, and every Canadian Providence. In 2005, he came off the road but continued to truck regionally in the oilfield until his retirement in 2021. He will always be known as “Music Man” to the trucking community. He logged approximately 4 million miles over his career. His farewell trip was with his son and friend to Maryland and back. It was a trip he said, "This is one trip I will cherish for a long time". He always wanted to complete the 50 states, so he and his wife checked off Alaska and Hawaii by vacationing. He enjoyed camping, traveling, sports, dancing, yelling out into the crowd unexpectedly to all, and cutting everyone's grass. He had a zest for life, and never met a stranger. Everyone was family to him, everyone got a hug, and an infectious smile. He absolutely loved his grandchildren, each one of them had a lesson in driving on his Gator around his property. He was a teacher, coach, mentor, brother, father, grandfather, neighborhood Dad, husband, and an all-around great man, who was a true American Patriot. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra Trahan; daughter, Mitzi Trahan Silvio and husband, Tony; son, Michael Wayne Trahan and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Cole Walters, Alyssa Walters, and Peyton Trahan; siblings, John Keith Trahan and wife, Melinda, Debra Trahan, and Chad Trahan. He was preceded in death by his parents Caffery James Trahan, and Edna Lee Bobbie O'Toole of Scott, LA, his twin brother Glen Anthony Trahan and his wife Sylvia Romero Trahan of Scott, LA, their son and Wayne's Godchild, Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Wade Anthony Trahan, brother Douglas "Doug" J. Trahan, and sister-in-law Donna Stelly Trahan. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Family Life Church on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Michael Wayne Trahan, Chad Trahan, Cole Walters, Damon Trahan, John Keith Trahan and Nick Romero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Debra Trahan and his brother-in-arms, Steve Gorden.
