Wesley Wayne Evitt

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel of Littlefield, TX for Wesley Wayne Evitt, 90, who passed away on August 25, 2024. The burial will take place in Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery of Littlefield, TX. Mr. Evitt, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Arthur Wayne Evitt and the former Billie Ruth Vandiver. Wayne, as he was affectionately called, was born December 17, 1933. He lived in Littlefield, Texas until joining the Navy. He served in the Korean War as a Corpsman attached to a Marine Corps Amphibious Landing Battalion. It was during this time he met his first wife Barbara Doane. He later graduated Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and passed the CPA exam on his first sitting, earning a Texas State Board of Public Accountancy license, ID# 007479, with a specialty in oil and gas. Wayne then moved his family to New Mexico and worked for National Potash. After that, he moved to Midland, Texas and later opened his own CPA firm, W. Wayne Evitt, CPA. In Midland, Wayne met his current wife, Mary Crumbley Evitt and started a combined family. He soon after moved with his wife to Lafayette, Louisiana. There, after several years, he opened his own business, Condor Petroleum. He remained an active owner until 2018. Wayne was a staunch believer in the power of education, helping family and friends as possible attain their potential. He was a lover of hunting and fishing, but mostly enjoyed people having fun. Whether it was intimate gatherings or large-scale events, and if he were with us now, he would make it a party. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Crumbley Evitt; children, Sabrina Evitt Hill, Tamara Evitt Brewster (Monty), Candace Evitt Stroud (Wayne), Wesley Wayne Evitt Jr (Carla), John Allen Broyles, Deirdra Broyles Green (Elroy), Bernadette Evitt, and Misty Evitt Martin (Jude); 16 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Evitt Chatwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Wesley Evitt and Billie Vandiver Odom; sister, Billie Evitt Hammock (Dean); son-in-law, Rick Hill; brother-in-law, J.W. Chatwell, MD; and nephew, Monte Pierce, MD. Visiting hours are available at Hillcrest Funeral Home of Littlefield, TX on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 8:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM. Pallbearers will be John Broyles, Ben Brewster, Brent Kennedy, Jude Martin, Elroy Green, and Eric Bopes.
