Wilda Hebert Pepper

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 23, 2025 in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for Wilda Mae Hebert Pepper, 91, who passed away on June 18, 2025. Fr. Thomas Voorhies, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. She will be laid to rest in Lafayette Memorial Park between her husband and son. Mrs. Wilda, a longtime resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Leonce Hebert and the former Marie Dutil. A proud graduate of Judice High School, Wilda married her school sweetheart, Milton. Following Milton's retirement from the fire department, they co-founded Pepper Fire & Safety, which they operated until 1992 when it was merged into S & S Fire and Safety. Wilda enjoyed sewing, quilting with the Quilting Guild of Acadiana, flower gardening, bowling, and attending events with her Acadian Belles homemaker group. Along with her husband, they were part of the Bago Cajun Camping Group, and members of the Pelican Winnies, a chapter of the Winnebago-Itasca Traveling Club. Also, she and Milton co-chaired the Louisiana State Rally. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends made through these groups. They visited all 50 states, driving to all except Hawaii. Wilda led a full life and will be sorely missed by many. She is survived by her children, Brenda P. (Randall) Leonpacher, Deborah P. (Russell) Fontenot, and Keith L. (Robin) Pepper; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Laura H. Wells; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Milton Pepper; son, Fred Allen Pepper; infant great-grandson, Riverson Vincent; parents, Leonce and Marie Hebert; siblings, Anna H. Touchet, Roy Hebert, Ellis Hebert, Lucy H. Veazey, Julia H. Broussard, and Mary H. Constantin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
