William E. DeSpain

Funeral services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 22, 2006 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for William E. DeSpain, Sr., 85, who passed away at his residence. Interment will take place at Sts. Peter & Paul Mausoleum in Scott. Rev. Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services. Mr. DeSpain, the son of the late Louis DeSpain and the former Marie Larrison, was a native of St. Joseph, MO and resided in Scott. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the Army during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Olivier DeSpain; two daughters, Joanna Marie DeSpain Jacobus of Dallas, TX and Candice DeSpain Soileau and husband, Craig of Eunice, LA; five sons, William E. DeSpain, Jr. and wife, LaDonna of Lafayette, LA, Tommy DeSpain and wife, Sarah of Pensacola, FL, Kenny DeSpain and wife, Donna of Duson, LA, Cliff DeSpain and wife, Angie of Raleigh, NC and Terry DeSpain of Lafayette, LA; thirteen Grandchildren, Gerald C. Soileau, Michelle S. Simar, Charles A. Soileau, Lance T. DeSpain, Tiffani DeSpain, Emerald DeSpain, China DeSpain Freeman, Dylan DeSpain, William P. Jacobus, Annie DeSpain, Elizabeth DeSpain, Kenneth A DeSpain, Jr. and Kara Putnam.; four Great-Grandchildren, Madeline, E. Soileau, Jenna-Kathryn Soileau, Jordan M. Jacobus and Brendan S. DeSpain; two sisters, Hattie Louise Stephens of Phoenix, AZ and Cassie Lorraine Goldsberry of St. Joseph, MO; one brother, Bobbie Louis DeSpain of St. Joseph, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret R. DeSpain. The family wishes to give special thanks to Madge Larson with St. Theresa's Hospice and to Margie Pellerin. Visiting hours will be observed on Thursday from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited by Rev. Gill Dutel at 7:00 pm at the Delhomme Scott Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Pallbearer Captain Craig Soileau, Jerry Soileau, Charles Soileau, Will Jacobus, Lance DeSpain, Kenny DeSpain, Jr. and Dylan DeSpain. Memorial contribution can be made in the name of William E. DeSpain, Sr. to St. Theresa's Hospice, 100 General Mouton, Lafayette, LA 70501.
