William "The Old Dude" P. Louviere, Sr.

A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott Chapel for William "The Old Dude" Paul Louviere Sr, 88, who passed away on May 10, 2024. Deacon Art Bakeler with St. Genevieve Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Bill, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Milton Louviere and the former Agnes Boudreaux. He was born on Good Chicken Farm in Bayou Black and resided in Houma for 63 years. Bill moved to Lafayette 26 years ago to be closer to his family. At 21 years old, he went to work for McDermott International as a crewman. In 4 years, Bill became a foreman with his own crew and in 1973 he became a superintendent of a lay barge. During his 44 years at McDermott, he worked in over 20 countries and learned to speak 3 foreign languages. Upon his retirement, Bill spent a few years as a consultant in Mexico. His tireless work ethic came from taking care of his family at a young age. For Bill, working was his hobby. He is survived by his children, Laura Stokes (Brent), Leah Moore (Jay), Steven Louviere, Billy Louviere (Budsabong), Angela Deroche (Ken), Tyler Louviere (Meagan), and Spencer Louviere; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne Sanders, Woody Louviere (Pam), and Gerald Louviere (Sondra); and sister-in-law, Norma Louviere. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Agnes Louviere; siblings, Milton Louviere and Carolyn Louviere; and brother-in-law, Harvey Sanders. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. The Rosary will be led by his granddaughter, Meredith Breaux, at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brent Stokes, Brett Stokes, Stephen Breaux, Brent Stokes Jr, Tyler Louviere, and Talvin Louviere.
