Yvonne Saadi Courcier

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Holy Cross Church for Yvonne Saadi Courcier, 82, who passed away on April 23, 2011 at 12:15 am at the Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Gift bearers will be Pattie Courcier, Randy Olson and Al Cain. Lectors will be Erin Archer and Pat Olson. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Courcier, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late Ferris Saadi of Junieh, Lebanon and the former Josephine Mohana of Houma, Louisiana. She was born and raised in Houma, LA where she graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School. As a young woman she felt a call to become a Marianite nun, but found her true vocation as wife and mother. She was a charter member and devoted parishioner of Holy Cross Church, a member of the Red Hat Society, and a former member of the Ladies Geophysical Society Auxiliary. Yvonne enjoyed entertaining, working in her yard and collecting what her late husband called "rinky-dinks". She was an excellent cook, especially of Lebanese food, and was the ultimate shopper. She had a talent to make people laugh, loved people, life and the Lord. She had an indomitable spirit. Yvonne was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister; she will be missed by all of her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Courcier Cain and husband, Al of Lafayette, and Carol C. Olson and husband, Randy of Lafayette; one son, James N. Courcier and wife, Pattie of Lafayette; one brother, Raymond Saadi and his wife, Jere of Houma; four grandchildren, Erin Archer and her husband, Ben, Jeremy Smith, Erick Olson, and Christopher Olson; four step-grandchildren, Shannon Cain and his wife, Kendra, Christina Cain Popp and her husband, Chris, Laura Cain Miller and her husband, Scott, and Alexander Jaffurs; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, and Nicholas Archer; six step great-grandchildren, Lillian, Bradford, and Brewer Cain, Madeline and Sophia Miller, and Ivan Popp. She was preceded in death by her Parents; her husband, Len N. Courcier . The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 am until service time. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Erick Olson, Christopher Olson, Alex Jaffurs, Ben Archer, and Tom Trent. Honorary pallbearers are Reginald Haase and David Haase. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kowalski and the staff of the Heart Hospital for their compassionate care given to Yvonne. Memorial contributions can be made in Yvonne's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
