Debbie Sue Duhon
August 21, 1955 - May 3, 2022
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 6, 2022 in St. Joseph Catholic Church - Milton for Debbie Sue Duhon, 66, who passed away on May 3, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Reverend William Schambough, Pastor, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Debbie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School in 1973 and worked for over 30 years in medical laboratories across Acadiana. Debbie's true calling and passion was taking care of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, performances, and awards ceremonies. She was so proud of their many accomplishments; all of which they credit her for. She sacrificed her professional career to stay at home and raise her children, grandchildren, and many other babies and toddlers. Nobody could rock and put a baby to sleep like, “Deeb”, as she was affectionately known. She was exceptionally close to her oldest granddaughter, Ava, whom she loved to spend time with; especially by “hitting the sales”. In her later years, she loved taking trips with Dan to Houston to visit their grandson, David, and go to Astros games with her family. She had a smile that could light up a room, but in her final days it was reserved for her granddaughter, Mia. Debbie, a resident of Youngsville, was the daughter of the late David Solis and the former Lena Credeur. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dan Duhon; daughter, Meagan Leigh Duhon; son, Daniel Joseph Duhon and wife, Anna; grandchildren, Ava Grace Duhon, David Roicy Duhon, and Mia Katherine Duhon; siblings, Patrick Solis and wife, Anna, Larry Solis and Nancy, Rebecca Green and husband, Tommy, and her twin brother, David Solis and wife, Angela as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, David Stephen Solis. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM. Pallbearers will be Daniel Duhon, Dwayne Solis, Chris Solis, Shane Solis, Tyson Green, and Sara Solis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Trahan and Gerald Cormier. The family would like to thank her team of nurses and doctors at Oschner Lafayette General, Houston Methodist Hospital, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; especially Dr. Philippe Prouet; and Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care. They would also like to thank Anita and Gerald Cormier who cared so lovingly for her in her final days. Personal condolences may be sent to the Duhon family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com.
