A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, October 11, 2021 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Edith "Sis" Hebert, 83, who passed away on October 6, 2021 at her residence. Rev. Chester Arceneaux, Rector, will Celebrate the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery. Known as "Sis" by her friends and family, she was born in Breaux Bridge and lived in Lafayette. She attended and graduated from Mt. Carmel in Lafayette, attended SLI, and was married in 1958. Sis and Carl were married for 58 years and had 6 children, she was an incredible seamstress, gardener, cook and mother. Devoted to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, she could always be found rooting for the Irish on football Saturdays. For over 35 years her annual beach trip with family was her favorite activity and she loved traveling overseas and locally. Sis, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Dermelie Calais and the former Edith Angelle. She is survived by her children, Edith Hebert Breaux, and husband, Jimmy, David Hebert and wife, Denise, Stephanie Sullivan, Jennifer Addicks and husband, Billy, and Aimee Tellepsen; grandchildren, Kathryn Hernandez, Stephen and Brandi Hernandez, Michael and Ally Hebert, Emily Hebert, Rory Sullivan, Morgan Sullivan, Caitlyn Addicks, Drew Addicks, Elizabeth Addicks, H.T. Tellepsen, and Tessa Tellepsen;great-grandchildren Leo Armendariz, Thomas Hernandez and Luke Hernandez and siblings Madeline Patin and Liz Danos. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo Carl Hebert; son, Stephen Hebert; and her sister, Rebecca Doucet. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM on Monday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Hebert, Jimmy Breaux, Billy Addicks, Stephen Hernandez, Michael Hebert, Rory Sullivan, Drew Addicks, and H.T. Tellepsen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana. The family would like to thank Dr. Juan Perez, Dr. Michael Horaist, 8th floor Central Nurses Station at LGMC, the staff of Hospice of Acadiana as well as her sitters, Amanda, Lorraine, Faye, Jaime, Regina, and Agnes.
