Lucille Lewis Villien

Lucille "Tookoo" Lewis Villien died at her home in Lafayette on Sunday, November 18, 2007. She was 81 years old. Mrs. Villien was a native of Opelousas, Louisiana. She attended Lafayette Elementary and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1944. She married Dr. Paul O. Villien, Sr. DDS in June of 1944 and lived in Beaufort, South Carolina and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. They moved to Abbeville, Louisiana in 1947, where Dr. Villien established his practice of General Dentistry. She managed her husband's dental practice from 1978 until he retired in 1992. Mrs. Villien was a homemaker, whose talents in quilting, needlework and gardening were only exceeded by her culinary skills. Her greatest joy was sharing these skills with others, especially with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Villien is survived by one daughter, Yvette Bethea of Baton Rouge; and five sons, Dr. Paul Villien, Jr. and partner, Brock of New Orleans, Douglas L. Villien, Sr. and wife, Karen of Baton Rouge, Dr. Richard Villien and wife, Karen of Lafayette, Thomas J. Villien, Sr. and wife, Kateri of Charlottesville, Va., and Dr. Marc J. Villien of Maurice. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Lewis, Jr. and Ruth Carrol West Lewis; her husband, Dr. Paul O. Villien, Sr.; her daughter, Suzanne V. Cassedy; and her son-in-law, Joe Ben Cassedy of Augusta, Georgia. There will be a visitation on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette, followed by a memorial service in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. A private burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Maurice. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Douglas Villien, Jr., Jonathan Villien, Matthew Villien, Jacques Villien, Dr. Jason A. Brown, and Adam Cohen. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Cassedy, Thomas Villien, Jr., James Michael Villien, John Paul Mire and Dave Mason.
