Michael James Broussard

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 26, 2021 in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church for Michael James Broussard, 81, who passed away on July 22, 2021 at his residence. Fr. Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery - Leroy, LA. Michael, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Lastie Broussard and the former Etta Duhon. Michael never met a stranger and welcomed them in by sharing a joke or 2, usually many in fact. He was always a storyteller with a wealth of knowledge and an impeccable memory of people, events and past experiences. He loved country and French music and enjoyed singing, but his greatest joy was dancing with his wife of 56 years, Doris. He was a fantastic cook and prided himself in feeding his family and friend’s hearty appetites. He was a family man, a loving husband and father not afraid to talk about feelings, truly listen, offer hugs, cry with us and always tell us he loved us. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by son, Darren J. Broussard (Pamela); daughter, Selina A. Broussard; son, Guy M. Broussard; grandchildren, Jade Foreman, Adam C. Broussard (Simone), Brittney Duhon, Blaine Dooley, Cody Dooley, and Jeremiah Broussard; great-grandchildren, Cooper Weldon, Hadley Simon, and Ryder DeVillier. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Doris Meaux Broussard; parents, Lastie and Etta Broussard; and daughter, Tessie Broussard Dooley. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Monday, July 26, 2021 from 8:00 AM - 10:15 AM. Pallbearers will be Adam Broussard, Blaine Dooley, Cody Dooley, Todd Lege, Brittney Duhon, and Jason Marchese. The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to family friend, Sharon Trahan for all the support, dedication and compassion she provided to all, but especially their father throughout this journey.
