Nita Gunaldo Waguespack

January 25, 1945 - May 5, 2022

Funeral Services will be held at 5:45 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Nita Gunaldo Waguespack, 77, who passed away on May 5, 2022. Deacon Ken David will conduct the funeral services. Kenny Richard will be the soloist for the service. Ms. Nita Waguespack was known as mom, grandmaw, granny, and Ms. Angie. She was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. And moved to the Westbank around 1960 where she got married and raised 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. She was very loving and active in her children’s lives and Social activities. Nita was a Special Education Teacher and loved working with special needs children. She also managed a Tennco gas station. She was a 4H club teacher and was in an all women organization named Cleopatra and rode in parades on the Westbank. In the early 80’s she moved to Bayou Jack Marina where she spent many years there and called it home. She worked for and retired from Jenerette Mills with 20 years of service. Nita loved spending quality time with her family, cooking, gardening, playing cards, bingo, Mardi Gras Parades, Festivals, and listening to French music on Sunday mornings. She also loved other types of music but her favorite artists were Elvis Presley and Tom Jones. Her favorite songs were, “I can’t help falling in love with you”, and “She’s a Lady”. She was best know for making fudge every year for the Holiday’s. Nita enjoyed traveling to visit family for family activities. Her favorite Motto in life was C.C.C., always stay calm, cool, and collect and you will be able to handle any challenges that life gives you. Mrs. Waguespack, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late John Gunaldo and the former Mercedes Comeaux. She is survived by four children, Catherine Joy Guilbeau and husband, Carrol, Leonard Joseph Waguespack and wife, Wanda, Antoinette Waguespack, and Sandra Palmer and husband, Dana; grandchildren, Gina M. Waguespack, Amanda Joy Minjarez Cubbage, Charles E. Wilson, Jr., Sean J. Cortez, Chase E. Wilson, Jem A. Cortez, Catherine J. Delcambre, Nicole Waguespack, Leonard Waguespack, III, Bridgette Martin, and Gernice Guidry; great grandchildren, C.J., Selina, Samuel, Mauricio, Audrey, Xena, John, Jr., Ezra, Wayatt, Lilly, Jonathan, Mariah, Vincent, Faith, Emerson Paul, Hayden, Rebecca Joy, Romeo Joseph, Connor, Carly, Peanut, Chaz, Zack, and Gabby; great great grandchildren, Kingston and Archie; siblings, Donald, Mary, and Grace Gunaldo. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons, Robert Minjarez, Jr., Cory Waguespack, and Daniel Waguespack, and granddaughter, Eileen Waguespack. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM. Personal condolences may be sent to the Waguespack family at www.delhommefuneralhome.com. Nita Gunaldo Waguespack and her family were cared for and entrusted final arrangements to Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA.
