Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Roland Warner Laurent, 88, who passed away on July 28, 2021 at his residence. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Roland worked as a self-employed Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor in Lafayette for over 45 years. He was a proud graduate of the LSU Engineering Program and was an avid LSU football supporter. He had a love for wine and Jack Daniels like no other. Roland loved reading and listening to Jazz/ Big Band music as well. He was a lifetime member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs: Food & Wine Gastronomy Society and was a registered professional with the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Mr. Laurent, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Raymond J. Laurent and the former Roberta Matherne. He is survived by his brother, Robert Allen Laurent; two daughters, Pamela (Michael) Benton, and Paula (Kenneth) Smith; three sons, Raymond J. Laurent II, David (Christine) Laurent, and Paul John (Melody) Laurent; twelve grandchildren, Jacob (Callie) Benton, Austin (Alice) Benton, Stephanie Gaudet, Alex (Kerstyn) Laurent, Caroline Laurent, Colleen Laurent, Meghan (Nic) Trahan, Adam (Addy) Burke, Matthew Laurent, Warner Laurent, Tyler (Jenna) Smith, and Caitlin Smith; nine great grandchildren, Ellis Benton, Hazel Benton, Haleigh Schnapp, Kyleigh Gaudet, Steven Gaudet III, Landon Gaudet, Piper Laurent, Bentlee Trahan, and Annie Mae Trahan. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 52 years, Marie Simon Laurent, and one grandson, Steven Gaudet, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:30 PM Saturday afternoon. Pallbearers will be Jacob Benton, Austin Benton, Alex Laurent, Adam Burke, Matthew Laurent, Warner Laurent, Tyler Smith, and Nic Trahan. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially his nurse, Renee' Jennings for their compassionate care.
