Albert Viator

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Milton for Albert Viator, 74, who passed away on May 14, 2010 at 4:40 am at Courtyard Manor. Deacon Cody Miller of St. Joseph Catholic Church will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Viator was born in Milton to Nella Duhon and Zenus "Pete" Viator on October 5th, 1935. He attended Milton High School. He married Melba Jean Rodriguez on May 11th, 1957 in St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church of St. Martinville, and were married for 51 years. They settled in Broussard and later moved to Milton. He worked as a Plant Nursery manager most of his life and knew all plants by their botanical name and how to care for them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and football. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He served on the City Council of Broussard as a Councilman, Vice-president and President. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Usher Society. He is survived by his daughter, Yvonne M. Breaux and husband John of Maurice; his son, Daniel R. Viator and wife, Pamela of Mire; his sister, Eunice Hebert of Broussard; his brother-in-law, Ronald P. Lege and wife Vida of Lafayette; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Borel of New Iberia; and his granddaughter, Jennifer L. Viator of Maurice. He was preceded in death by his wife Melba; his parents; his sister, Rose Jones; and his grandson, Cody Michael Viator. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Broussard on Saturday from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and will continue on Sunday from 9:00 am until service time. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home in Broussard. Pallbearers will be Daniel Viator, John Breaux, Ronald Lege, James Hebert, Robert Henry Jones and Derrick Picard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cliff Viator, Eunice Hebert, Vida Lege, Geraldine Borel and the members of the St. Joseph Usher Society.
