Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 in Delhomme Funeral Home - Chapel of the Flowers for Byron Michael Berard, 57, who passed away on February 2, 2026. Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Byron, a longtime resident of Lafayette, grew up in Nina, Louisiana. From an early age, he loved the outdoors, spending his childhood riding four wheelers and horses alongside his brother and cousins. That love stayed with him throughout his life, shaping his passions as an avid hunter and a car and gun enthusiast. Exceptionally intelligent and hardworking, Byron began working in the oil and gas industry after high school. He went on to become an engineer and later operated an oil field equipment company. He approached his work with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, qualities he would later carry into fatherhood. Above all else, Byron was a deeply devoted father. He welcomed three beautiful children into the world: Zoë Claire, Gabriel Michael, and Anne-Angelle Evangeline. Being a father was his greatest pride and purpose. He found his deepest joy in caring for his children, guiding them, and showing up for them in steady, meaningful ways. Byron shared close bonds with each of his kids, often expressed through the interests they enjoyed together. In high school, Byron was a standout wrestler, and he was truly proud when his son, Gabriel, chose to follow in his footsteps on the mat; he never missed a meet and was always his son’s most devoted supporter. Cars were also a special connection between Byron and Gabriel, and what began as a shared hobby ultimately inspired Gabriel to pursue a career as a mechanic. Byron also found joy in cooking, it became a cherished connection between him and his daughter Zoë. He taught her how to prepare meals, and together they created countless memories in the kitchen, especially during family gatherings and holidays. Music was another joy he shared, particularly with his daughter Anne-Angelle, who grew up dancing. Byron never missed a practice or performance and was endlessly proud of her passion and talent. His love for his children, and his steady presence and guidance, shaped their lives in countless ways. In retirement, Byron embraced a simpler, quieter life. He found peace in spending time outdoors with his beloved dog, Lucy, and in listening to music and sports on the radio. He was a jokester who loved to laugh, and he was happiest just hanging out and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Byron will be remembered for his intelligence, devotion, and strength. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and unwavering dedication. Those who knew him will remember his calm presence, generous heart, and the quiet ways he showed his love. His memory will be carried forward through the lives of his children, whom he cherished beyond measure. He is survived by his father, Dr. Michael Berard; mother, Sandra Angelle Hebert; children, Zoë Berard, Gabriel Berard and Anne-Angelle Berard, and brother, Armand Boyer. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Boyer. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
