Cecile Butcher

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette, for Cecile Hebert Butcher, 92, who passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at her home in Lafayette. Reverend F. Hampton Davis III, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Mrs. Butcher was born in Abbeville and lived most of her life in Lafayette. She proudly served her country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. She loved gardening, needlework and traveling. She was devout to her faith, praying countless hours over the past years and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Fatima Altar Society and the Bendel Gardens Rosary Group. Mrs. Butcher will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Butcher, Kathy Butcher Austin and Dina Butcher Gannon (Billy); three sons, Michael Butcher (Dottie), Ronald Butcher (Kathy) and Tony Butcher (Rosemary); ten grandchildren, Josh Butcher, Molly Butcher, Phillip Butcher, Elizabeth Elias Juge, Margaret Butcher Tyson, Michelle Butcher Meyers, Mary Butcher, Sarah Gannon, William Gannon III and Emily Gannon; ten great grandchildren, Kathryn Valldejuli, Christopher Juge II, Charles Juge, Andrew Tyson, Katie Meyers, Lauren Meyers, Nathan Meyers, Olive Meyers, Paige Meyers and Tommy Butcher. one sister, Jeanne Bernard; and one brother, Edwin Hebert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt Butcher; parents, Clemille and Leonie Lachaussee Hebert; one brother, David Hebert; one sister, Helen Cameron Fortier; and one infant son, Phillip Gerard Butcher. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
