Charlotte Walker Benoit

Charlotte Walker Benoit, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful Catholic, passed away peacefully while praying the Rosary with her husband in their Kingwood, Texas, home on Sunday, October 19, 2025. She was 82. Charlotte was born in Opelousas, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Sam F. Walker, Jr. and the former Gloria Wyble. She spent her formative years in Lafayette, graduating from Lafayette High School in 1959 and later attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana Lafayette). She began her career as an executive secretary in the demanding oil and gas industry. However, her true passion and calling was becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. Throughout their 63 years of marriage, Charlotte and her beloved husband, George Paul Benoit, made loving homes and lives for their family in numerous communities, including Lafayette, LA, Lake Charles, LA, Houston, TX (three separate times), Houma, LA, Oxford, MS, and Monroe, LA. Charlotte was an expert at transforming any house into a welcoming home. She emerged as a young wife and mother at a time when the role demanded an extraordinary range of skills—from home repair and financial planning to being a seamstress, chef, hair stylist, chauffeur, and family psychologist. While always proud of her South Louisiana heritage, Charlotte's heart truly belonged to Kingwood, Texas. She cherished the people and dear friends she made there and never considered living anywhere else in the greater Houston area. Kingwood was, to her, a very special community. A devout Catholic, Charlotte was an active and dedicated parishioner at St. Martha’s Catholic Church for many years, serving as a devoted Eucharistic adorer. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life and the foundation upon which she raised her family. Charlotte had a passion for Cajun-style cooking, carrying the flavors of her South Louisiana upbringing into every dish. Her dedication to feeding her family was so strong that even in her final days, she worried about the gumbo on the stove. She was also an extraordinarily talented seamstress, creating everything from clothing for her sons to intricate draperies, bedspreads, and even recovered furniture. The enduring quality of her work can still be found in the homes of her husband and children. Charlotte is survived by her loving husband, George Paul Benoit; her three sons, Bryan Benoit and his wife Victoria Benoit, David Benoit and his wife Carolyn Benoit, and Paul Benoit. She is also survived by her sisters, Mrs. Diana Layne of Houston and Mrs. Kathleen Guilliot (wife of Dr. Albert Guilliot) of Lafayette, LA. Her legacy continues through her six cherished grandchildren: Allison Benoit and Katherine Benoit (daughters of David and Carolyn Benoit of Germantown, Tennessee); Walker Benoit and Charlotte Spencer Benoit (son and daughter of Bryan and Victoria Benoit of Houston, Texas); and Brooks Benoit and Brody Benoit (sons of Paul Benoit and Christina Benoit of Austin, Texas). She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam F. Walker, Jr. and Gloria Wyble Walker. A special song to honor her memory may be found on Spotify @ Here to Forever (Charlotte). The family extends its eternal gratitude to the many special friends who were so kind and loving to Charlotte throughout her long life, and especially during her many years of poor health. Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Saint Martha’s Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Pkwy, Kingwood, Texas. Internment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery. Musical selections for the funeral Mass will include "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," "One Bread, One Body," and "Be Not Afraid." Pallbearers will be her sons and the sons of her sisters: Bryan Benoit, David Benoit, Paul Benoit, Jared Guilliot, John Guilliot, and Schacht McCollum. Visitation will be held between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Rosewood Funeral Home, 22271 Hwy 59N in New Caney, with the praying of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Copyright Delhomme Funeral Homes, Inc.
