Coralee Curry Adams

Coralee Curry Adams, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, was born to the union of Doc Hoten Curry and Cora Amelia Collins Curry in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana, on March 2, 1915, and passed from this life on September 6, 2010. She was currently a resident of Garden View Assisted Living. Coralee was preceded in death by her parents and husband: John Paul Adams.; brothers: Arthur Curry and William Hoten Curry; sisters: Alma Howell, Eva Curry, Enola Oliveaux, Gladys Richey, Fannie Tyler Morris, Josephine Willis and Vivian Stuart. She is survived by five nephews: William H. Curry, Alabama; William H. "Buck" Curry, Crowville, LA; Charles Richey, Many, LA; James C. Stuart, Columbia, LA; and Gary Stuart, Monroe, LA. Also, survived by eight nieces: Avis Sears, San Antonio, TX; Dorothy Soulier, San Antonio, TX; Lillian Holloway, Crowville, LA; Marilyn Ryland, Alexandria, LA; Noreen Smith, Monroe, LA; Connie Wilson, Houston, TX; Judy Rembert, Sugar Land, TX; and Marcia Barfield, Grapevine, TX. The family wishes to acknowledge Mary Simon Briggs for the wonderful friendship, love and care she bestowed upon Aunt Coralee for over fifty years. The friendship cannot be measured as it was extraordinary. The two families enjoyed plane trips and immeasurable times together as friends. In fact, this friendship is the cause or Coralee and Paul's residency in Lafayette. Coralee's hobbies were varied from knitting afghans for family and friends, yardwork, flowers, sewing, and she was an expert tailor. She and late husband Paul enjoyed many travels back to roots in Caldwell Parish, and to Oregon and Washington visiting relatives and friends. Coralee and Paul lived in Monroe, LA, several years and while there, she was employed as Secretary and Bookkeeper at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club. In later years, after moving to Lafayette, she was a member of the Desk & Derrick Club, and was Bookkeeper for Prudhomme Truck Tank Service until retirement. The family would like to extend a special thanks to sitters, Gloria Arceneaux, Jerleeza Arceneaux, Mary Broussard, and Betty Malveaux for taking such wonderful loving care of Aunt Coralee during many trips to the hospital and while a resident of Cornerstone South Nursing Home. Special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for their loving care of Cora. Arrangements are through Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette, Louisiana, with visitation scheduled on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The services will immediately follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, Louisiana. Any planned memorials can be made to: St. Judes, Memphis, Tennessee; Shriners Hospital, Shreveport, Louisiana, or to charity of one's choice.
