Dallas Etienne Landry

Funeral services will be held at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Dallas Etienne Landry, 74, who passed away Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Interment will take place at St. Alphonsus Mausoleum in Maurice. Mr. Landry, the son of the late Sidney Landry of Vermilion Parish and the former Ola Benoit of Milton was a native of Milton and a resident of Maurice. In 1968 he served as Fire Marshall, he served as First Captain in 1969, Second Assistant Chief in 1970, First Captain in 1971 , First Assistant Chief in 1972 through 1978, from 1984-85, he was Second Captain, and in 1986, he was First Captain. He was a lifetime member of Maurice V.F.D. and was one of twenty one people who met to organize a volunteer fire department. He was a lifetime member of Louisiana State Fireman's Association. Mr. Landry was a member of Woodman of the World 714. Survivors include his wife, Jane Viator Landry; two sons, David 'Keith' and wife, Karen, and Ernest Jean and wife, Denise; Mother-in-law, Bernice Viator; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Huval; three grandchildren, Kayla Redmond, Dustin Landry, and Denae Landry Thomas and husband, Jason; four great grandchildren, Antonio Innis, Vanessa Breaux, Chelsea and Sydney Redmond; three sisters, Verna Schexneider and husband, Rodney, Maudry Romero and husband, Percy, and Mayola Landry; one brother, Aaron Landry and wife, Lou. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Lanery and Ola Benoit Landry. The family would like to thank Dr's Brian Granger, Gary Guidry, and Deborah Johnson. They would also like to thank the staff of Lafayette General Medical Center, ICU, 7th floor, and 8th floor Oncology. The family requests visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7:15 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Carroll Comeaux, Dustin Landry, Terrell Faulk, Mark Romero, Raney Redmond, and Reed Huval.
