Darrel Antoine Richard

Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Darrel Antoine Richard, Jr., 61, who passed away on March 14, 2011 at 9:17 pm at his residence. Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael's Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Richard, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Darrel Antoine Richard, Sr. of Lafayette, Louisiana and the former Helene Dugas of St. Martinville, Louisiana. Darrel joined the United States Marines and was honorably discharged after a terrible motorcycle accident. After his recovery, he attended USL. He was a well known wildlife artist and a member of the Lafayette Art Association. He was an Account Executive in Advertising Sales for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to ride his motorcycle. He is survived by his mother, Helene D. Guilbeaux of St. Martinville, LA; his wife, Carolyn Simon Richard of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Jill R. Hamilton and her husband, Colin of Destin, FL; two step daughters, Monique Comeaux of Lafayette, LA and Delane Watkins of Duson, LA; three sons, Jeremy Guidry of Bakersfield, CA, Adam Richard and his wife Carol of Navarre Beach, FL, and Seth Richard and his wife Serena of Destin, FL; two step sons, Shane Comeaux of Carencro, LA and Chris Comeaux of Youngsville, LA; six grandchildren, Morgan Richard, Hayden Richard, Skyler Richard, Sander Richard, Caymon Godwin, and Callie Rae Godwin; two sisters, Kathy Duhon and Karen Bush; six step grandchildren, Kirstie Watkins, Kristian Breaux, Madison Landry, Justin Comeaux, Caroline Comeaux and Konnor Amy as well as three brothers, Keith Richard, Kirk Richard, and Kevin Richard. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Richard "Kent" Richard, and one grandchild, Kristian Hamilton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
