Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015, at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, for Deanna "Dee" Boudreaux Bernard, 75, who passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at her home in Lafayette. Entombment will be held in Sacred Heart of Jesus Mausoleum in Broussard. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Broussard, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Dee was a 1957 graduate of Mount Carmel High in Lafayette and lived by their senior motto: "If God is with you, who can be against you." Dee retired from Lafayette Parish School Board after serving the educational system for 25 years, as the secretary for the Federal Programs Department. Belonging to LAOEP Secretarial Organization, she was a member of Sacred Heart Ladies Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister, and a charter member of the Pooyie Broussard Community Fair. On her free time, she coached little league softball, then moved on to teens and brought her team to the ladies league, where they won many trophies for their sponsor METAL-X. She loved sports especially when her grandchildren participated. You can bet she was at most of their activities. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband and friends, meeting friends along the way. She was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Dee will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Bernard Hebert and her husband Michael and Danette Bernard Bonin and her husband Thomas; five grandchildren, David Bonin, II and his fiance' Kelsie Kelly, Shelby Wardrop, Emily Bonin, Camille Bonin and Brynan Hebert; two great grandchildren, Gracee Christine Lamprez and Bailey Trahan; one sister, Gayle Waters and her husband Roger; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey J. Bernard; one son, Huey J. Bernard, Jr., parents, Zepherin Leo and Mae Smalley Boudreaux; and one brother, Donald Boudreaux. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Delhomme Funeral Home in Broussard from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed by The Ladies Altar Society at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Michael Hebert, Thomas Bonin, David Bonin, II, Carl Bell, David Bonin, John T. Landry and John Lee Gerard. The family would like to Dr. Salman Mullad, Dr. Karen Smith, Dr. Peter Vizzy, St. Joseph Hospice and all of their staff for their compassionate care.
