Dolores Ducharme

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 2:30pm in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mrs. Dolores Hebert "Lil Bit" Ducharme, 85, who passed away peacefully at home. Reverend Tom Voorhies, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Ville Platte will conduct the funeral service. Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery. Mrs. Ducharme, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Joseph Malcolm Hebert and the former Gussie Gilbert. Dolores Hebert Ducharme was Born and raised in Lafayette, La. She married her high school sweet heart in 1951 and went on to raise four children. She was a woman of great intelligence that taught us so many things about life. She loved to laugh. She loved to try new things. She was not afraid to say what she had to. She loved to travel and go on excursions. She was an avid reader and shared the love with her family. We will miss her so much but We know she is walking and laughing and with her family again. She loved to cook but hated cleaning the kitchen. She loved to read and spread the love to us. She liked to watch tv but hated commercials. She loved watching movies. She liked X Men and the Avengers. She was a member of the Fatima and St. Mary altar societies. She volunteered with the mental health clinic. She volunteered to help people learn how to read. She volunteered at Saint Joseph diner. She volunteered at our schools when we were children. She loved boiled crawfish and Pimon Thai. She raised us all to the best of her ability to be kind, caring and selfless. We will miss her so much but We know she is walking and laughing and with her family again. We have been beyond blessed to have her in our lives. We now have her forever in our hearts. Dolores, Mom, Memaw, Mamaw, Maw. We all love you so much and know without a shadow of a doubt you love us too. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Thomas Ducharme I; two daughters, Donna Cortes and husband, Edward, Elizabeth A. Ducharme and fiancee, Kristy Johnson; two sons, Robert "Rocky" Ducharme II and wife, Michelle Russo and Brian E. Ducharme and wife, Lisa Breaux; grandchildren, Bobby, Chris, Robin and Nick Cortes, Michelle Ridge, Gina Dehart, Robert Ducharme III and Brett and David Burch; great grandchildren, Carson and Carleigh Dehart, Lillie Ridge and Britton Burch. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lelia Hebert Dupuis; brother, Malcolm Joseph Hebert; and two children, Mary and Joseph Ducharme. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home- Bertrand on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visiting hours will continue on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Chris, Bobby, and Nick Cortes, Robert Ducharme III, David Ducharme, and Edward LeBlanc. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Bourgeois, Claude Roy Leblanc, Carey Dupuis, Sidney Ducharme, Brett Burch, David Burch Jr., Sam Ridge, Marty and Carson DeHart. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Dru Griffin, Dianne Veal, the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, the staff of Agnes' Loving Care, and Bobby Guidry for all of their love and support.
