Edward Brantley Mcdaniel

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 24, 2006, at Asbury Methodist Church for Edward Brantley McDaniel, 81, who died at his home in Lafayette on July 20, 2006. The family will receive visitors at 9:00 am Monday at the church until time of services. The Reverend Ira M. Robinson, Associate Pastor of Asbury Methodist Church, will officiate at the services, and the choir of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church under the direction of its organist and choirmaster Jason Pennington, will provide the music. Musical selections will include 'Christ Jesus Lay in Death's Strong Bands,' 'Amazing Grace,' 'Rock of Ages,' 'It is Well With My Soul' and 'I'll Fly Away.' He was born June 11, 1925, in Raymond, MS to the late Edward Brantley McDaniel, Sr. and the former Sara Jane Watt. Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Ramona Boutte McDaniel; two daughters, Colleen McDaniel Chappuis and husband, John N. Chappuis of Lafayette, La and Marjorie McDaniel Lynch and husband, Marcus Lynch of Eugene, Oregon; grandchildren, Scott Brantley Chappuis of Lafayette, Sarah Nickerson Chappuis of Monroe and Amy Louise Chappuis of Lafayette: one sister, Eleanor McDaniel Smith of Franklin, TN and one brother, Ralph Herrington McDaniel of Henderson, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert Charles McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel graduated from Drew High School in Drew, MS, and joined the Army Air Corps in 1943, where he served in the Pacific Theater and in Occupied Japan. After the war he remained in the Reserves and earned a degree in Petroleum Geology in 1950 from Mississippi State University. In November of 1950, he married Ramona Boutte McDaniel of Lafayette, with whom he enjoyed 55 years of marriage. When the Korean War broke out, he was called back to active duty in the Air Force. After the war, he worked as a geologist for Phillips Petroleum Company for 23 years. He later worked for Templeton Oil and Gas Company and Mich-Wis Oil and Gas Company, before joining Howell Petroleum Company in Houston, TX and serving as Executive Vice President and later President and Chief Operating Officer. The family wishes to thank the many friends and family members who have provided such strong support and comfort to Ramona and Bud and their children and grandchildren during Bud's illness. Special thanks are due to his nurse, Lillian Logue, Virginia Broussard and Barbara Kilchrist, and Maria Olivier, for their kind and loving care of him.
