Gaylord H. Dodgen

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 22, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Gaylord Howard Dodgen, 77, who passed away on March 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Reverend Chris Blanchard, Pastor of United Methodist Church of the Covenant, will conduct the funeral services. Entombment will take place in Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge, LA. Gaylord was a long time resident of Baton Rouge, LA, and moved to Lafayette, LA, after his marriage to his surviving wife Lanez in December 2010. After graduating from Austin College in Sherman, Texas he met and married his former wife of 51 years, Rosanne while completing seminary in Austin, Texas. Gaylord was ordained in 1960 and first preached in Thibodaux, LA. He was pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, LA, most of his fifty plus years of ministering and also was pastor at Trinity Church in Lafayette, LA, and the Amite-Arcola Presbyterian Church in Amite, LA. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Gaylord was known and loved for his kindness, wit and humor which he generously shared with others. He was happiest when surrounded with his family and he will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Lanez Dodgen of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Kathryn Kreger and husband Tim of Dallas, TX; three sons, Mark Dodgen and wife Diane of Gonzales, LA, Craig Dodgen of Baton Rouge, LA, and David Dodgen and wife Kellie of Baton Rouge, LA; two step-daughters, Kay Gibson and husband Mac of Lafayette, LA, and Lyndi Tuschl and husband Brian of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Kayla Kreger and two grandsons, Tyler and Dillon Dodgen; four step-grand daughters, Sarah, Delanie, Anna-Grance Tuschl and Caron Gibson Henderson as well as one step-grandson, Gabriel Tuschl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Indabelle Dodgen and his first wife of 51 years, Rosanne Dodgen. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am in Lafayette. Committal service will be at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA. Pallbearers will be Mike Vincent, Pat Paterson, Mac Gibson, Mark Dodgen, Craig Dodgen, and David Dodgen Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Dodgen, Dillon Dodgen and Kayla Kreger.
