GRACE BOUDREAUX

Funeral Services will be held at an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 21, 2013 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Grace Agnes Robicheaux Boudreaux, 95, who passed away peacefully at the home of her niece, Teri Miller Poole, in Lafayette on February 16, 2013. Reverend Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Grace was born to John D. and Lelia Albarez Robicheaux on July 1, 1917 into a family of 10 children. She was a graduate of Centerville High School in 1934 and a lifelong resident of Centerville. She was married to Wilson "Tater" Boudreaux for over 50 years. Grace's life was devoted to her family. Together with Tater, they raised two daughters. Her hobbies were cooking and gardening. She welcomed everyone with kindness into her house and no one was a stranger. You always left with fresh produce or enjoyed a home cooked meal prepared by Grace. She loved working in her yard and flowers were her passion. Poppies, sweet peas, daisies and roses could be found growing abundantly in flower beds. She celebrated her 95th birthday on July 1, 2012 with family, friends and her devoted caregivers. Grace entertained us by singing her favorite song in French as she was quite a character when asked to perform. Her final year was spent living with her niece, Teri and her husband, Michael where she was known as "Princess Grace". This was a reflection of her lifestyle and appreciation of her love and kindness that she received for all of her generosity and compassion given to others all of her life. We wish to thank all of her devoted caregivers, Mrs. Loretta Glover, Mrs. Laura Lawrence, Mrs. Catherine Batiste, Ms. Valerie Tolivour, Ms. Roxanne Glover and Ms. Keisha Glover. Also, Meslissa, Brandi, Debbie and Kim from Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care of Opelousas as well as Chaplain Patrick for their compassion and love shared with Aunt Grace. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Gauthier and husband Dewey, Sandra Rodriguez and husband Ray, and her grandchildren, Derek Broussard and his wife, Dasha, Tara McDonald and husband, Bobby, Roderick Rodriguez and Ragan Alcina and husband Alan, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilson "Tater" Boudreaux, five sisters, and four brothers. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 9:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home Thursday morning at 10:30 am. Pallbearers will be Derek Broussard, Coby Broussard, Collin Broussard, Bobby McDonald, Austin McDonald and Beau McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Miller and Roderick Rodriquez.
